Educational Profile: Cook

Field of work: trade, tourism and catering

Length of education: 3 years

Educational profile of cook has been developed for the secondary school education. The training lasts for three years after the students have finished their primary school education. By selecting this profile, students will gain knowledge and skills in all segments of the catering business such as:

•  principles of proper nutrition and their practical application in everyday life;
• necessary food, with both theoretical and practical knowledge of all its properties
• ways of processing and storing of food and finished products;
• preparation of meals, drinks and beverages as well as  servicing them;
• sanitary-hygienic conditions of work in the catering establishment.

Practical work during regular school days, in the second and third grade includes 12 classes a week, in the catering establishment, with which our school has contracts on cooperation. End-of- the year practical training lasts for 60 classes in the first grade and 150 classes in the second and the third grade. This way, students are able to apply all the theoretical knowledge gained at vocational subjects, and acquire knowledge and skills in all the necessary areas of work.

       

After graduation, there is a possibility of employment in the municipality of Becej and wider (since for several years there has not been anyone with this qualifications reported in the National Department for Employment). There are also good opportunities for further education and advanced training.
